BRENDAN Cole and Jeremy Edwards were more Jedward than Lennon and McCartney on the Celebrity X Factor.
But according to judge Louis Walsh, the wannabe crooners are set to return next year for another stab at bagging that record contract.
In an exclusive chat, Louis said: “They might be coming back next year. They’re going to go away, rehearse and come back and be quite good.”
The ex-Strictly pro and Hollyoaks actor’s cringeworthy rendition of Kylie Minogue’s Love At First Sight during auditions at Simon Cowell’s LA home stank the place out.
And Jeremy didn’t take too kindly to the judges’ feedback either, saying, “I don’t mind criticism. But . . . he talked for ages and it was negative, negative, negative.”
He later tweeted that the show made him look fat and sound out of tune. But Louis insists the judges — also including Nicole Scherzinger — were right not to send them through to the live shows.
He said: “Everyone hates rejection and they always blame somebody else.”
Simon confirmed in The Sun that there will be another series. I hope Brendan and Jeremy swallow their pride and try again.

THE highly anticipated Gavin And Stacey Christmas special will be shown on BBC1 on December 25.
I sent my reporter Joe Kasper to watch the preview of it and he confirms it’s totally worth the ten-year wait . . . and is lush.
Nice-guy Roy’s tearaway teen
ROY CROPPER is about to take in yet another wayward teen in Coronation Street – but this time she comes from somewhere a lot closer to home.

As I revealed earlier this month, the café owner discovers his long-lost brother Richard Lucas, played by Paul Brown, after delving into his mother’s secret past.
It turns out Richard has a daughter, Nina, and after he pleads with Roy for help, the do-gooder agrees to take her under his wing.
David Neilson, who plays Roy, said of the storyline: “Roy can identify with that as he has been an outsider himself. They are different generations and worlds apart but there is a connection between them.”
Roy has got form when it comes to helping tearaways, such as Wayne Hayes, Fiz Brown and Becky McDonald.
Nina, played by TV newcomer Mollie Gallagher, looks like she is going to be more than a handful.
Roy will need a sprinkle of Valium in his next batch of rolls if he is to have any chance of coping with this one.
SEXY new age-gap drama Gold Digger is so steamy you probably shouldn’t watch it with the kids or your parents.
The six-part BBC series follows the life of wealthy Julia Day, played by Julia Ormond, who falls madly in love with Ben Barnes’ character 26 years her junior.
Ben admitted it is packed with raunchy scenes, which were made gritty, not pretty.
He told Radio Times: “They took care to honour the reality of the age gap, particularly in the sex scenes.
“People in films talk about ‘pretty crying’, but there’s pretty orgasming, too.
“We didn’t want the sex to be too glamorous. We wanted some of that awkwardness.”
Viewers will watch Julia’s three scheming children try to sabotage her relationship.
They believe their mum’s lover only wants to get his hands on her bank assets.
I am still trying to fathom the meaning of “pretty orgasming”.
Martin’s nest big thing
HERE’S Line Of Duty star Martin Compston on the set of new BBC1 thriller The Nest for the first time.
He poses by a lake with Sophie Rundle and Mirren mack, who play his wife and their teenage surrogate in the series.
The drama, which starts filming next month near Glasgow, delves into the lives of Dan, played by Martin, and Sophie’s character Emily, who are heartbroken when they find they are unable to conceive.
They then enlist the help of Kaya, played by Mirren, to become their surrogate. But while all seems plain sailing at the start, the arrangement ends up being far more complicated than they could have ever imagined.
It’ll be great to see Martin in a different kind of drama, but I’ll always struggle not to see DS Steve Arnott.

THE £50million His Dark Materials adaptation is the BBC’s most expensive drama and more than seven million saw episode one on Sunday.
That is two million shy of the record for a BBC drama opener, held by 2014’s The Musketeers.
Huw’s in charge
VETERAN newsreader Huw Edwards will front the BBC’s General Election coverage.
MOST READ IN BIZARRE
He replaces David Dimbleby, who has done the job since Margaret Thatcher‘s Tories swept to power in 1979.
Huw said: “I hope to put my 35 years of experience to good use and to offer viewers a service they can trust.”
The BBC said the News At 10 anchor is the “perfect presenter” to have as a “trusted voice” of their coverage. Jeremy Vine returns with his “swingometer”.
